[FoR&AI] Future of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence

I plan on publishing  a set of essays on the future of robotics and Artificial Intelligence in the late summer and fall of 2017, perhaps extending in to 2018. I’ll list them all here as they come out. They are designed to be read as stand alone essays, and in any order, but I’ll order them here in my guess at the optimal order in which to read them.

Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto published on August 28, 2017.

The Seven Deadly Sins of Predicting the Future of AI published on September 7, 2017.

Machine Learning Explained published on August 28, 2017.

  1. Hi Rodney,

I think it valuable that you are trying to defuse some of the hype around current machine learning and point out all the things it is not covering.

I’m interested in whether you will be covering the merging with robotics you spoke about in Flesh and Machines? Also if there are people working on it today? I’m working part time on one small aspect (more human compatible computational resource allocation methods, compared to direct program management), but I would like to get a better view of what else is going on.

    1. I had not planned on going back to the merging with robotics in this series of posts; not for any negative reason, just that it doesn’t fit in with the particular issues I am ercised about at the moment, and want to write about to clarify my thoughts. That said, there is a new DARPA program on neural interfaces which is certainly relevant.
